Prepared: January 01, 2009 HISTORY / OVERVIEW:Detention Device Systems has over thirty five years of design and manufacturing experience in the highly specialized field of Detention Equipment Metal Fabrications. Since the company's inception, the primary product line has been sliding door locking devices, tool resisting grillwork, and related steel furnishings for the correctional construction market. While the financial nucleus of the company continues to be the manufacturing operation, the growth into the services which relate to the installation and field support of manufactured goods has been providing significant revenues in recent years.. MANUFACTURING ACTIVITY:From 1974 until 1985, DDS fabricated sliding door devices exclusively for Universal Security Products of Hayward, California. While Universal is still one of our customers, the company has been marketing the product line under the DDS trade name for over thirty years. The current product line for equipment which is designed and manufactured by the company includes: Stainless Steel Specialties SERVICES:DDS Construction Services is a division of Detention Device Systems. The company is a licensed Specialty Contractor in California, Montana, Nevada, Oregon and Washington and is processing applications for licensing in all the states which require licensing for their Detention Equipment contracting specialty. In the Western states, DDS Construction Services packages all of the equipment which is typically specified in Section 11190 to submit competitive bids on the material and installation of the specialized security products. The company is a factory authorized installer and warrantor of the major Detention Hardware manufacturers' products. A partial listing of our completed projects and references is in the lower section of this resume. DDS is also a licensed low and high voltage Electrical Contractor in California, Montana, Nevada, Oregon and Washington and is processing applications for licensing in all the states which require licensing. On projects where the SECURITY ELECTRONICS are a part of the Section 11190 work, the company acquires the component package from an approved integrator to bid the entire detention section as a single source supplier / erector. This concept provides the architects with continuity of responsibility through the submittal phase. The tried and proven concept also provides a smoother job for General Contractors and the best warranty service for the end user. The company has three CAD work stations which generate Engineering drawings for submittals for architectural approval as well as the fabrication details which are necessary for shop production. All stations are Pentium Pro III Computers operating AutoCAD Release 13 programs. The Engineering production activity serves all divisions of Detention Device Systems. KEY PERSONNEL:President & CEO - Steven R. Allington founded the business in February 1970 and owns 100% of the stock in the privately held company. Functions as Senior Engineer and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Allington has more than thirty five years experience in the design, fabrication and installation of Detention Equipment. Vice President / Operations - Tom G. Heath has been employed by Southern Steel Company , Adtec and Universal Security Products in management positions since 1969. Mr. Heath has over thirty five years experience in the design, fabrication, and installation of Detention Equipment and joined DDS in 1991. Vice President / Field Services - Robert Allington joined the company in 1976. He has trained mechanics who install DDS locking systems and end user clients who maintain and operate the equipment for the detention facilities. Mr. Allington is responsible for field inspections and warranty validation. Production Manager - Ronald Blair has been with the company since 1973. Responsible for scheduling all manufacturing projects and supervising all shop personnel. Quality Assurance Manager - Dan Breuner joined the company in 1976 and is responsible for conducting the specified testing of materials and documenting the results. He is a Level 2 Inspector authorized to certify material in accordance with specification MIL 278-F. FINANCIAL PROFILE:Headquarters: Detention Device Systems operates from a building owned by Steve Allington in Hayward, California. The facility is a Tilt-up Concrete building with over 26,000 square feet of manufacturing space and 4,000 square feet of office space. Manufacturing operations currently utilize 80% of available space. The remaining 20% is for assembly and parts storage. Equipment: Steve Allington owns all of the machinery, furnishings and fixtures at this location and has no long term debt on the building or the equipment. Banking: Detention Device Systems has established a line of credit with Wells Fargo Bank.
